age 91, went home to be with her Savior on September 19, 2017 at Madrona House.Yo was born at Pleasant Beach on Bainbridge to Takeshi and Masuko Kitayama and was one of six children. The family operated a greenhouse business growing tomatoes, cucumbers, chrysanthemums, potted flowers and outdoor vegetables for family consumption or sale to a nearby grocery store in exchange for groceries.At the outbreak of WWII, the family was sent to the internment camp at Manzanar, CA. The family was later relocated to camp Minidoka near Twin Falls, Idaho.Yo graduated from Hunt High School in 1944. At the end of the war, her family returned to the Seattle area. She married Ken in 1950. She worked for Town and Country Market for many years as a meat wrapper, retiring with Ken in 1991.Yo and Ken were charter members of Bainbridge First Baptist Church and she was very active in helping and serving at church. She enjoyed her family get-togethers, cooking, gardening, canning, sewing, knitting, crocheting, the Seattle Mariners, and traveling in their RV.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her seven children - Glen (Gail), Gene, Jan (Ken), Leslie (Don), Karen, Cheryl (Aaron), Irene (Curt); Grandchildren Alison, Megan, Davis, Julia, brother Ted of Los Altos, CA, sister Martha of San Jose, CA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ken and infant son, Steven.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Bainbridge Island First Baptist Church. Private interment will take place at Port Blakely Cemetery on Bainbridge Island. Memorials may be made to Bainbridge First Baptist Church or Bainbridge Fire Dept.Please sign the online guest book for the family. Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
